Freedom of the press…
The printing workshop at the International Summer Academy 2019 at the Fortress Salzburg gave me the opportunity to learn various techniques connected to screenprinting, with the fabulous Ciara Phillips and Ines Hochgerner as teachers and a welcoming creative community from various corners of the world. Within our group, we shared not only meals & screens, but also works by inspiring artists (from Corita Kent to Mierle Laderman Ukeles – the list goes on).
In addition to squeeching squeechies, preparing paper, and mixing paints, I found the time to print fabric and sew it into T-shirts, with custom-made wire hangers for the day of the exhibition. The first pictures in the gallery above show the exhibition installation of the printing workshop, with all involved materials piled up in the middle of the room.
…belongs to those who control the press.
