This piece was part of the group exhibition Foam:idable – Über:schäumend at the Kunsthaus Burg Obernberg, during the so-called Biermärz, a month dedicated to the culture of beer brewing, distributing, drinking. The Burg Obernberg at the river Inn is located close to the border to Bavaria, and together, the regions form and promote projects of their shared history of beer cultivation.
Obwosch Oabat Oneakennng takes another look at the motto of foam, taking it quite literally in the shape of a sponge, of sponges used to clean dishes. The cut-out letters spell three words in German dialect: obwosch [der Abwasch]- doing the dishes, oabat [die Arbeit] – work, oneakenung [die Anerkennung] – tribute / acknowledgement. It pays tribute to all those who do the washing up, the cleaning, the preparing. Those who work in the kitchens, tucked away, often for low wages.
The next step would be to actually use them.
