Material. Notizen. Ordnen.

Material. Notes. Arranging.

Material. Notizen. Ordnen. marked a transition point during my artistic practice and education. Locally, for I moved from Salzburg to Vienna. Institutionally, for I changed from the Mozarteum Salzburg to the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Practically, for I had to pack up my projects, works, materials. Mentally, for reflected upon the training, the concepts, the ideas. And of course, socially, for I left a group of wonderful, talented people, knowing our relationship would change in some way.

This exhibition showed a selected range of areas I enjoyed working with: scans of sketchbooks full of drawings and collages, cut-outs of abstract shapes in different student materials (cardboard, textiles, plywood), and the disassembled pieces of This House Is Not Tiny, It Is Minimised, a former walk-in sculpture in bright blue.

Regarding the set-up, I treated the room as a canvas for the individual pieces, arranging them along the right-hand wall just like in a collage. The taller panels functioned both as rhythmic elements and as noticeboards; one of them was converted into a coffee/side table (which is now in the common room of the graphic department of the Mozarteum), winking at my interests in furniture and interior design practices. Meanwhile, the rest of the panels and posts has been recycled for workshops and other projects, only two full-sized panels are left – for now.

Material. Notizen. Ordnen. Solo exhibition at Galerie Das Zimmer, Salzburg, 11.10.-02.11.2018.
